A leading European technology company is seeking a highly experienced and hands-on Technical Team Manager to establish and lead technical activities in Ukraine, supporting the advancement of counter-drone (C-UAS) solutions in complex and operational environments.

The Technical Team Manager plays a critical role in building and leading a local technical team while driving prototyping, testing and validation under real-world conditions. Reporting directly to the Chief Technology Officer, the role serves as the primary technical authority in the country and ensures a strong feedback loop between field-based insights and the central R&D organization in Europe.

This position offers a unique opportunity to operate at the intersection of advanced technology and real-world deployment, contributing directly to product development, operational excellence and mission-critical innovation in a rapidly evolving domain.

The role is based in Kyiv, Ukraine and requires regular presence in operational or near-operational environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the local technical team, including planning, mentoring and ensuring alignment with central R&D engineering standards and processes

• Build and scale local technical capabilities, including defining roles, participating in recruitment and establishing a sustainable team structure

• Drive hands-on prototyping and system integration across hardware and software domains

• Plan and execute structured field testing in operational or near-operational environments, ensuring proper documentation, analysis and follow-up

• Validate product releases from central R&D in real-world conditions, including reproducing issues, verifying fixes and providing structured feedback

• Gather and structure technical intelligence on evolving drone threats to support detection and mitigation development

• Perform authorized spectrum monitoring and data capture to support analysis and continuous system improvement

• Provide clear and structured reporting to the CTO and key stakeholders, ensuring knowledge sharing, documentation and traceability

Qualifications

• Several years of relevant technical experience, including experience as a technical team lead or senior engineer with delivery responsibility

• Degree within Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related technical field

• Strong hands-on experience within areas such as embedded or edge systems, Linux environments, C/C++/Python, networking, data capture pipelines or systems integration

• Proven experience planning and executing field tests on real hardware systems, including structured test design, logging and reporting

• Experience within defence, dual-use technologies, C-UAS/UAS, RF systems, SDR or spectrum analysis is considered an advantage but not a requirement

• Fluency in Ukrainian and strong English communication skills

• Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate and develop technical teams in complex environments

• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to operate effectively under uncertainty and time pressure

• High level of integrity and accountability, particularly when operating in sensitive and regulated environments
