Unifeeder A/S is seeking a driven and proactive Port Captain in Scandinavia who is proficient in one of the Scandinavian languages (Danish, Swedish or Norwegian) and English.
Working with Local Operations at Unifeeder
As the Port Captain, reporting to the Local Operations Director, you will play a pivotal role in the Scandinavian ports and terminals. You will serve as the primary liaison between the port/terminal and the Unifeeder Local Operations Manager, ensuring seamless communication and coordination.
Your role will involve overseeing the safe and efficient handling of Unifeeder vessels, ensuring smooth operations. You will analyze data related to productivity, idle time, waiting time, additional costs, overtime and general operational issues, contributing to the continuous improvement of the company's operational excellence.
You will drive and foster professional relationships with terminals, vessel management, local residual and liquid waste collectors, tugboat companies as well as internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare reports and documentation related to port operations and vessel performance.
- Monitor and optimize port turnaround times and operational costs.
- Conduct regular inspections of vessels and port facilities to ensure operational readiness and safety.
- Provide leadership and guidance to crew members and shore-based teams.
- Ensure compliance with all maritime regulations and company policies, including a thorough understanding of ISPS rules in active ports.
- Act as a key stakeholder in all rebate discussions, negotiations and follow-ups.
- Assist in managing the administrative aspects related to port cost rebates.
Qualifications
You should demonstrate a proven track record with at least 5 years of experience in independent roles within port operations or maritime logistics. Fluency in English and one of the Scandinavian languages is required.
An educational background in shipping and logistics would be considered a strong asset. An ideal candidate will have profound knowledge of international maritime regulations and port operations.

This position will be based in Scandinavia (Denmark, Sweden or Norway) with a remote/hybrid setup. Travel is approximately 50-100 days per year.
